ARTHUR – Four people from the Greater Toronto Area have been charged in connection with an illegal marijuana grow-op here. Police say officers seized over 7,500 plants valued at over $6 million, as well as a large quantity of Canadian currency and marijuana processing equipment.

TORONTO – The Ontario government has announced the province will be entering into step one of its “Roadmap to Reopen” on June 11, three days earlier than previously anticipated.

WELLINGTON COUNTY – Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health (WDGPH) is reporting 36 new COVID-19 cases over the weekend (June 4 to 6), bringing the region's active case count to 135. That’s down from 190 on May 31 and the lowest it has been since March 22

MOUNT FOREST – A fire last month at an apartment building on John Street in Mount Forest destroyed the apartment of Lindsay Whiteman, Frank Warris and their three-year-old son, Forest. The family lost everything in the fire.

CENTRE WELLINGTON – For the month of June the Great Giving Challenge by CanadaHelps is open, offering charities the opportunity to win $20,000, Groves Memorial Community Hospital among the participants.

ARTHUR – The Opti-Mrs playground, located at 158 Domville Street by the Arthur arena, re-opened to the public on June 3 after undergoing $120,000 worth of upgrades.

ARTHUR – County of Wellington OPP’s Community Street Crime Unit and uniform officers along with the OPP’s Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau and Joint Force Cannabis Enforcement Unit executed a search warrant in Arthur on the morning of June 4.

TORONTO - The Ontario government is again easing restrictions for visiting loved ones at long term care homes. Effective June 9, day and overnight outings will be permitted for fully vaccinated residents.

ELORA - The Grand River Conservation Authority (GRCA) will be reopening the Elora Quarry Conservation Area for day-use access beginning June 7, however a number of new restrictions will be in place to help reduce overcrowding at this popular local attraction this season, officials say.

WELLINGTON NORTH – At a special meeting on June 2, council here approved plans to add a second water tower in Mount Forest, and to replace the two water towers in Arthur with a new tower.
