The Great Canadian Giving Challenge is running, and Groves is asking for help to win $20,000

CENTRE WELLINGTON – For the month of June the Great Giving Challenge by CanadaHelps is open, offering charities the opportunity to win $20,000.  Groves Memorial Community Hospital is among the participants.

Every dollar that someone donates to a charity of their choice through the CanadaHelp donating platform is an entry made for that charity, increasing their chance of winning $20,000, which will be announced July 1.

“Regardless of whether we win or not, it just provides us with a great opportunity to promote our organization,” said Groves Hospital Foundation executive director Lori Arsenault.

Arsenault noted the benefits of this contest, as it’s an opportunity to promote donating during a time of the year when donations tend to dwindle.

CanadaHelp is a service that is used by charities to accept online donations, and any charity that uses this platform is eligible to win.

“Any funds given to Groves would go towards our equipment fund, which is really to fund the ongoing equipment needs at Groves,” said Arsenault. “Primarily this year we’re funding equipment for our obstetrics units, as well as our surgical suites… to help with expanding births in the community as well as to prepare us for when surgeries can get up and running again after COVID.”

Arsenault spoke of her appreciation to the community for supporting groves. “We appreciate the community support in Groves all year round, and … this is just another opportunity and a way to give.”
