MOUNT FOREST – The Warm Winter Wishes campaign will once again spread Christmas Joy through this community.

WELLINGTON NORTH – The province's Special Investigations Unit is now investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a 47-year-old man here last weekend. Wellington County OPP officials say police officers responded to "a disturbance" call at a property on Conc. 7, near Kenilworth.

ERIN – Erin councillors voted against a request to support heritage designation for a former feed mill in Hillsburgh as the province's deadline for a decision closes in. The new property owner has confirmed the building will be razed.

WELLINGTON COUNTY – Ontario Municipal Partnership Fund (OMPF) allocations to local municipalities will decrease by a combined total of just over $100,000 next year.

GUELPH/ERAMOSA – Two drivers were seriously injured, with one transported to a trauma centre by air ambulance, in a crash here on Friday morning. Wellington County OPP officials say emergency crews responded to the scene on Fife Road at Township Road 1, west of Guelph, on Dec. 2 at about 8am.

GUELPH – Wellington County councillors expressed grave concerns about the impact Bill 23, the province’s More Homes Built Faster Act, will have on municipal finances, planning and the environment.

FERGUS – The COVID-19 assessment centre in the old Groves hospital in Fergus is now permanently closed. The centre, which opened in August of 2020, was shut down on Dec. 1.

PUSLINCH – Shawn Gusz will have to hire off-duty police for the nights of his Christmas display if he wants to have a display this Christmas.

WELLINGTON COUNTY – Provincial policy dictating how agricultural land is used in Ontario allows for secondary on-farm uses, but local land use policy and zoning bylaws can get in the way, preventing farmers from diversifying on-farm income sources.

ERIN – Local resident Stephen Sargent is asking council to consider chipping in for a community ice rink at the Mountainview Parkette.
