ERIN – Michael Dehn has defeated current councillor Rob Smith in the mayoral race in the Town of Erin. Dehn, who lost a close mayoral race in 2018 to Allan Alls, received 1,776 votes. Smith received 1,550 votes.

WELLINGTON COUNTY – Of the nine county councillors elected by voters, eight will be returning for the 2022-26 term.

MAPLETON – The next Mapleton council will include two new and two returning councillors.

ELORA – Shawn Watters will be the new mayor of Centre Wellington after defeating opponents Neil Dunsmore and Bob Foster in the three-way race.

BRUCEDALE – All five members of the current Guelph/Eramosa council are returning for the 2022-26 term.

ABERFOYLE – Not much will change around the council horseshoe here, as the new Puslinch council will include just one new member: Russell Hurst.

KENILWORTH – Andy Lennox will return as Wellington North mayor after defeating challenger Dan Yake on Monday night by 171 votes.

WELLINGTON COUNTY – Salem Frights has returned from the dark depths of Darryl Magierowski’s mind to scare those who dare enter his newly expanded Halloween haunt at 470 Wellington Road 7.

PUSLINCH – A popular Halloween display that raises money for local charities, will either have to pare way back or not operate at all after council here decided there’s no way it can grant an exception to the township’s new bylaw to prohibit and regulate publicized displays.

MINTO – A chicken barn was destroyed, but no animals were lost and no one was injured in a fire at a property on Wellington Road 6 on Oct. 22. Firefighters from Minto, Mapleton and Wellington North responded and were able to prevent the fire from spreading to other buildings.

GUELPH/ERAMOSA – A Guelph resident is dead following a serious two-vehicle crash here on Monday. Wellington County OPP officials say emergency crews responded to the intersection of Wellington Roads 124 and 26, southwest of Ospringe, on Oct. 24 at about 5:30am.

ERIN – A local senior is dead following a single-vehicle crash here on Friday morning. Wellington County OPP officials say emergency crews responded to the intersection of Winston Churchill Boulevard and Erin-Garfraxa Townline, north of Hillsburgh, on Oct. 21 at about 6:45am.

WELLINGTON NORTH – Residents here are likely to notice their water and sewer fees increase in the new year, according to a report presented to council on Oct. 11.

PUSLINCH – Despite delegations by people who live on the street and don’t want the name changed, council stuck to its guns on Oct. 19 and Swastika Trail will be renamed Holly Trail.
