U of G scientists concerned about extended interval between COVID-19 vaccine doses
GUELPH – A group of virologists and immunologists at the University of Guelph wants the provincial government to put the brakes on its directive to extend to four months the period between doses of the Pfizer and Moderna COVID-19 vaccines.
Twelve schools in region reporting active COVID-19 cases
WELLINGTON COUNTY – As of March 24, 12 schools in the Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health (WDGPH) region, including two in Wellington County, are reporting active COVID-19 cases.
Erin wastewater treatment plant will cost town up to $32 million
ERIN – The total cost of Erin’s wastewater treatment plant is estimated to be $126 million, but with developers paying 50 to 60 per cent of the cost, the town’s share will be $58 to $68 million.

MOUNT FOREST – For the second year in a row, the Mount Forest Fireworks Festival has been cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Officials announced the cancellations of the event, set for July 15 to 19, in a March 22 statement.
Paramedic service receives $6.1 million to provide in-home care to seniors
GUELPH – Guelph-Wellington Paramedic Services (GWPS) will receive $6.1 million to provide in-home care to seniors in Guelph and Wellington County. The Ministry of Long-Term Care funding, spread over four years, was announced by GWPS on March 22.
Public health reports 54 new COVID-19 cases in region over weekend
WELLINGTON COUNTY – There were seven new COVID-19 cases reported in Wellington County over the weekend (March 19 to 21) – and 54 across the region. The county also recorded its 35th COVID-related death, a 65-year-old woman who passed away on March 16.

WELLINGTON COUNTY – On March 19 the Ontario government released the 2020 Public Sector Salary Disclosure list, also known as the “Sunshine List". A total of 104 employees with the county and seven lower-tier municipalities made the list in 2020, up from 74 in 2019.
