Town sells property in Palmerston for $110,000

MINTO – The Town of Minto has agreed to sell a parcel of land in Palmerston to a numbered Ontario company.

Town council approved the sale of land at 122A King Street to 1424149 Ontario Limited for $110,000 during its March 16 meeting.

Council declared the land surplus to the town’s needs on Feb. 16, following discussion in closed session.

“Staff have discussed the property and have agreed the town has no required use for the property at the present or in the future,” states a report from clerk Annilene McRobb.

The report notes the property has hydro lines running through it, servicing the nearby King Hotel.

“Through discussions with the purchaser, the cost of moving hydro lines will be negotiated in the future, as what will necessitate the relocation of the hydro service is unknown at this time,” the report states.

The report also notes a one-foot reserve will be added on the front of the lot to allow the town to maintain control of any development on the subject property.

Funds from the sale of the land will placed in a reserve “to complete future projects throughout the town,” the report states.
