SCHUSTER, Michael Andrew

72, of Hanover, passed away peacefully on October 30, 2026 at the South Bruce Grey Health Centre in Chesley, holding hands with his loving and devoted wife of 52 years and with his three children by his side. Andrew will be missed by his wife Sheila, his son Alex (Rosemary), his daughters Lisa (John) and Jillian (Mike), and eight grandchildren Michael, Connor, Fenton, Oliver, Everett, Serena, Isaac and James. His life was enriched by many incredible friends. Andrew met Sheila in 1973 and married within a few months. Their children were raised in Rockwood where he enjoyed being a part of the community. They moved to their dream home on Marl Lake to be closer to his furniture factory in Chesley and then recently moved to Hanover. Andrew will likely be most widely remembered as a successful entrepreneur. His most popular business was Crate Designs furniture. For nearly 40 years he enjoyed working with employees and colleagues from the furniture industry. The company was his pride and joy, his lifelong passion. He had a relentless and tireless work ethic and never met a problem he couldn’t solve or a job he couldn’t finish. He cared about quality and integrity and sustainability. He was proud to build furniture that would last a lifetime. He was especially grateful his son Alex choosing to work beside him. Andrew loved reading, sharing a laugh, a glass of wine with some good conversation, creating a beautiful garden, and watching the birds. He also enjoyed adventures visiting China, the Philippines and Korea in search of business opportunities. Travel took Andrew and Sheila to New Zealand to visit his sister Bridget & her family and across Canada, the Caribbean and the US for many trips along with cruises around the world. They enjoyed impromptu weekends in exotic locations like Buenos Aires. A very special thank you to his caregivers. Your support was immeasurable during the past few months. In accordance with Andrew’s wishes, no funeral or service will be held, consider donating to Habitat for Humanity.
