Vandals strike several Fergus buildings with graffiti

OPP: spray painted messages included 'homophobic slur, derogatory slur aimed at those with disabilities'

FERGUS – Police are looking for help to find the person(s) responsible for “homophobic” and “derogatory” graffiti on several buildings here.

Wellington County OPP responded to multiple reports of mischief to buildings and vehicles located in downtown Fergus on March 23.

Police say that sometime overnight, between 6:30pm and 7:30am, someone spray painted yellow graffiti on several buildings and vehicles in the area of St. George Street West and St. Andrew Street.

“Amongst the buildings targeted by the vandals were a church and the Autism Behavioural Services building,” police stated.

“It was here where a homophobic slur and a derogatory slur aimed at those with disabilities were spray-painted on an exterior wall.”

Police are asking anyone with information about this incident or similar ones to call the Wellington County OPP at 1-888-310-1122.
