Mount Forest Fireworks Festival cancelled again due to pandemic

MOUNT FOREST – For the second year in a row, the Mount Forest Fireworks Festival has been cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Officials announced the cancellation of the event, set for July 15 to 19, in a March 22 statement.

“With careful consideration, our committee has acknowledged that a live, multi-day festival of events like ours, which draws an audience of thousands, is unrealistic and unsafe in our current pandemic situation,” stated festival co-chair Sharon Wenger.

She added, “Our priority continues to be the safety and health of our community, patrons, sponsors, entertainers, vendors, volunteers and community groups.”

Wenger thanked volunteers and members of the community for their ongoing support of the event.

“We are 100% volunteer run. This festival would not exist in any capacity if it weren’t for our volunteers,” she stated. “We hope you will consider volunteering with us when we come back.”

Wenger also expressed hope that festival-goers will return post-pandemic.

“We hope when the festival and events industry is able to bounce back, you will show us grace and patience as we try to navigate through new rules and regulations,” she stated.

She concluded, “We look forward to the day we can share festival experiences with you again!”
