FERGUS – Police are looking for help to find the person(s) responsible for "homophobic" and "derogatory" graffiti on several buildings here. Wellington County OPP responded to multiple reports of mischief to buildings and vehicles located in downtown Fergus on March 23.

FERGUS – The Township of Centre Wellington will embark on an environmental assessment of lands identified in the South Fergus Master Secondary Plan.

ARTHUR – Wellington North council wants more information before moving ahead on an application for a zoning change that would allow conversion of an industrial building here for marijuana production.

MOUNT FOREST – For the second year in a row, the Mount Forest Fireworks Festival has been cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Officials announced the cancellations of the event, set for July 15 to 19, in a March 22 statement.

GUELPH – Guelph-Wellington Paramedic Services (GWPS) will receive $6.1 million to provide in-home care to seniors in Guelph and Wellington County. The Ministry of Long-Term Care funding, spread over four years, was announced by GWPS on March 22.

WELLINGTON COUNTY – There were seven new COVID-19 cases reported in Wellington County over the weekend (March 19 to 21) – and 54 across the region. The county also recorded its 35th COVID-related death, a 65-year-old woman who passed away on March 16.

MOUNT FOREST – Two Arthur residents are among three people facing drug and weapon charges following an incident here earlier this week.

MINTO – The Town of Minto has agreed to sell a parcel of land in Palmerston to a numbered Ontario company.

WELLINGTON COUNTY – On March 19 the Ontario government released the 2020 Public Sector Salary Disclosure list, also known as the “Sunshine List". A total of 104 employees with the county and seven lower-tier municipalities made the list in 2020, up from 74 in 2019.

Firefighters from the Erin and Hillsburgh stations were called to the blaze on Trafalgar Road, between Wellington Roads 42 and 50, northwest of Ballinafad, on March 19 at about 10:35pm.

FERGUS – A Fergus resident has been charged with impaired driving and assaulting a police officer following a traffic stop here earlier this week.

GUELPH — It turns out the Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health (WDGPH) will move to the orange level of the province's COVID-19 framework on March 22 after all.

MAPLETON – Mayor Gregg Davidson says the consensus among Wellington County mayors is the existing local state of emergency should stay in place until the majority of county residents are vaccinated against COVID-19.

MINTO – Council here has approved a plan to utilize just under $140,000 in federal/provincial Safe Restart Agreement funds to cover pandemic-related operational expenses from 2020, leaving about $125,000 in reserve for 2021.
