ERIN – The town’s new council got a first look at a draft version of the 2023 budget, proposed by finance director Wendy Parr, on Nov. 24.

 FERGUS – Even though Bill 23, the Building Homes Faster Act, passed third reading on Nov. 28, the devil is in the details, says Mike Schreiner, who has not lost hope that the bill could be amended and environmentally-sensitive land be saved.

ARTHUR – One of Arthur's most well known citizens, a man who dedicated much of his life to his family, community and country, has died. Historian and retired pharmacist John Walsh passed away on Nov. 21 at the age of 96.

WELLINGTON NORTH – Police say they are investigating a death here on the weekend. Wellington County OPP officials say police officer responded to a property on Concession 7, near Kenilworth, on Nov. 26 at about 10:15pm.

FERGUS – Officials with the Fergus Scottish Festival are expressing their thanks for a $50,000 grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF) and looking forward to next year's festival with the appointment of a new board of directors.

MAPLETON – A first draft of the township’s 2023 budget shows a tax levy increase of nearly seven per cent is required to cover anticipated expenditures.

FERGUS – Oral health care is a critical part of overall health, says Dr. Raj Khanuja, a dentist with eight clinics in southern Ontario, including Fergus and Hillsburgh.

HARRISTON – “I still don’t think it has sunk in that I ran the New York City Marathon (NYCM), and in a year that will probably go down in history,” said Harriston resident Amanda Bulmer, who participated in the prestigious run through all five NYC boroughs on Nov. 6.

BELWOOD – Not content with being the King of TOPS, Doug Lucas has reached another milestone. He has walked 20-million steps since January 2020 – a goal he never imagined he’d reach when he started his weight loss and physical fitness journey.
