PUSLINCH – Council here has approved the purchase of a new rescue truck and protective gear for township firefighters.

MAPLETON – A provincially-mandated report shows water from Mapleton’s systems in Drayton and Moorefield is safe to drink, but another report shows the systems require about $1.8 million worth of immediate maintenance and repair work.

ABOYNE – A landscape plan for the county’s Wellington Place campus here will include a community space for Indigenous ceremonies and programming. Wellington County council approved the plan on March 25.

CENTRE WELLINGTON – Integrity commissioner Guy Giorno has found that Centre Wellington councillor Steven VanLeeuwen did not contravene the Municipal Conflict of Interest Act when he participated in council’s decision last summer not to designate a bridge as a property of cultural heritage value.

KENILWORTH – Wellington North will use about $12,000 from the province’s Municipal Modernization Program to purchase a mail folding/stuffing machine and for work on redesign of the township’s municipal office here.

ABOYNE – Staff uptake of COVID-19 vaccines at the Wellington Terrace Long-Term Care Home is slightly better than the province-wide average and much better than alarmingly low levels reported in some regions.

CENTRE WELLINGTON – After 38 years of being tied to a cell phone or pager, Centre Wellington Fire Chief Brad Patton is retiring this spring. His official end date is May 28, but with several weeks of vacation time owed, he’ll be wrapping it up sometime in April.

ELORA – The integrity commissioner made a brief appearance at Centre Wellington’s Committee of the Whole meeting on March 22, but only to inform councillors that he will proceed with an investigation as requested.

GUELPH – A Moorefield native is being enshrined into the Ontario Agricultural Hall of Fame (OAHF).
