WELLINGTON NORTH – The second of a four-stage study on how to regulate cannabis production and processing in Wellington North is complete, with county and township staff putting forward six policy recommendations to township council.

WELLINGTON NORTH – Council here voted to reimburse Mount Forest swimmers living within a specific area with $24 for each visit made to the township's outdoor pool in Arthur, up to a maximum of $500 per household, following the closure of the Lion Roy Grant outdoor pool.

WELLINGTON COUNTY – Faced with a lack of nursing staff trained in obstetrics care, North Wellington Health Care is halting obstetrics services at hospitals in Palmerston and Mount Forest from June 6 to at least Sept. 1.

WELLINGTON NORTH – A petition from resident Mark Baldock to permit the keeping of backyard chickens in the township ruffled some feathers at a May 24 council meeting.

MOUNT FOREST – Students from Wellington Heights Secondary School have brought home the grand prize from Ducks Unlimited Canada’s (DUC) national research-based case study competition. The winning trio earned $500 for their school and the title of Youth Wetland Experts.

WELLINGTON NORTH - Between April 23 and March 30, 121 individuals responded to questions seeking to understand what residents want from an outdoor pool that would replace the run-down Lion Roy Grant pool. A hybrid option, a combination of elements from two other designs, was most favoured.

WELLINGTON NORTH - A nine-acre portion of agricultural land belonging to G and L White Farms Ltd. is being rezoned to rural industrial to allow for Wellington County to build a public works garage. The land is situated south of Wellington Road 109, along Wellington Road 12, in Wellington North.

HARRISTON – Ground was broken here on May 5 for a 1,150-square-foot addition to the Harriston Lions Community Medical Centre.

WELLINGTON NORTH – Wellington North is on the lookout for a new full-time recreation staffer to join its ranks after the Terry and Terry Martin announced their retirement from Martins Total Landscape Care.

WELLINGTON NORTH – The Township of Wellington North has completed the first of a four-stage study of policy and land uses for cannabis cultivation. In the spring staff will be advancing to the second stage of developing policy options and a zoning bylaw to bring back to council.

MOUNT FOREST – Resident Kay Ayres was recognized for her dedication and volunteerism as the 2022 Wellington North senior of the year award recipient.

MOUNT FOREST – Around 30 people were at the Mount Forest and District Sports Complex on March 23 for a presentation on concept designs for a proposed outdoor pool in Mount Forest that would replace the aging Lion Roy Grant pool.

WELLINGTON NORTH – Cox Construction has been awarded a multi-million-dollar contract to complete the much-anticipated Highway 89 (Queen Street East) reconstruction project in Mount Forest.
