GUELPH – The County of Wellington is increasing its financial support for the Waterloo-Wellington Children’s Groundwater Festival, which is being held in the county for the first time in 2023.

MINTO – Three local youths were recognized for sporting accomplishments at the national and provincial level at the April 25 town council meeting.

MOUNT FOREST  –  A wellness festival promoting everyday activities that support both physical and mental health is planned for the fall in Wellington North and Minto. 

GUELPH – County of Wellington officials are seeking funding to extend the local Integrated Mobile Police and Crisis Team (IMPACT).

HARRISTON – A massive sports-themed mural on a downtown building here will be the Town of Minto’s latest public art project.

HARRISTON – The Harriston Historical Society is in the process of recruiting volunteer members to assist with the society’s ongoing mandate to showcase local history.  

WELLINGTON COUNTY – More county residents are accessing support from local food banks this season, with all locations across the county reporting increased demand. 

HARRISTON – “I still don’t think it has sunk in that I ran the New York City Marathon (NYCM), and in a year that will probably go down in history,” said Harriston resident Amanda Bulmer, who participated in the prestigious run through all five NYC boroughs on Nov. 6.

HARRISTON - Harriston is a long way from the refugee camps of Turkey, crammed with displaced Syrians, and farther away still from Aleppo’s embattled streets. But for Obid Almohamed and his family, the small community of Harriston, with less than 2,000 inhabitants, is now home.

HARRISTON – When more than 50,000 runners hit the streets of New York City for the world’s largest marathon next month, a local woman will be among them.

MINTO - The Town of Minto and local downtown revitalization committees are planning Newcomers’ Welcome Receptions in all three urban communities (Clifford, Palmerston, Harriston). 

WELLINGTON COUNTY - The return of September means crafting season is back – or did it ever leave? 

HARRISTON – A local group is planning an evening concert in a park here on Sept. 2, with proceeds going to assist with the humanitarian crisis caused by the war in Ukraine.

HARRISTON – The Grey Wellington Theatre Guild is casting for its fall production.

MINTO – The municipality is dropping a policy of charging different rates for residents and non-resident for interment in the town’s three municipal cemeteries.
