MOUNT FOREST – A gathering in downtown Mount Forest on Aug. 22 honoured people who have died of drug poisoning.

MOUNT FOREST – International Overdose Awareness Day (Aug. 31) was marked with a Stop the Stigma rally here on Aug. 24.

With three suspected overdose deaths in Guelph in the past 30 days and seven suspected overdoses in the past five days, Adrienne Crowder is worried what will become of local people addicted to illicit drugs.

WELLINGTON COUNTY – Four overdose deaths have been reported over the last week in the Guelph, Rockwood, Elora and Arthur areas. Fentanyl is believed to be involved these deaths, which may suggest a stronger than normal substance is circulating in the community, public health officials stated.

ARTHUR – A Kitchener man faces 15 charges, most weapon and drug related, after trying to evade police here on the weekend.

FERGUS – A Fergus woman is among three charged after a drug bust here on Wednesday. Wellington County OPP officers executed a search warrant at a Fergus home and seized "a quantity of fentanyl, heroin and methamphetamine."

GUELPH - A Fergus man has been charged with drug trafficking in connection with a recent fentanyl overdose here.

GUELPH – Upper Grand District School Board (UGDSB) schools will include naloxone in first aid kits starting in 2020-21.

GUELPH – In light of the ongoing nationwide opioid crisis, the Upper Grand District School Board (UGDSB) is considering the implementation of naloxone kits in schools, similar to first aid kits and AED units.
