BELWOOD – Centre Wellington council has approved a development in Belwood that will see 118 private homes on half-acre lots built in an estate community.

MAPLETON – Township council has directed the municipality’s CAO to work with a consulting firm to pursue opportunities for funding from upper tiers of government.

ELORA – The developer is walking back its original proposal for 350 Wellington Road 7 between Salem and Elora, removing the plan for an eight-storey apartment building in favour of adding more townhomes.

MINTO – Town council has endorsed a consultant’s report calling for the municipality to “strongly support” flexibility around settlement area expansion and removing the mandated municipal comprehensive review process, while encouraging ongoing protection of prime agricultural lands.

ELORA – Habitat for Humanity presented its proposal for a stacked townhouse complex at 465 Garafraxa St. W. in Fergus at a public meeting on March 29 and was met with little opposition.

GUELPH – Wellington County council has approved a 2023 budget with a 3.8 per cent tax rate increase anticipated to cost the average residential taxpayer an additional $24 per $100,000 of assessment.

ELORA - Centre Wellington has some hard challenges ahead and Mayor Shawn Watters used his time at the Mayor’s Breakfast, hosted by the Centre Wellington Chamber of Commerce on Jan.18, to prepare his audience for what he sees on the road ahead.

ELORA – A public meeting about a proposed 273-townhouse development on Wellington Road 7 that was cancelled last month due to bad weather, has been rescheduled for Jan. 27.

ELORA – The owners of a proposed 273-unit townhouse development at 350 Wellington Road 7 are holding a public open house to explain their proposal to the public and seek feedback. The open house is at the Elora Community Centre on Dec. 15 from 5 to 7pm.

FERGUS - Habitat for Humanity Guelph Wellington is excited to be working with Centre Wellington Community Foundation (CWCF) following their recent investment in the upcoming build project in Fergus. 

GUELPH – Wellington County councillors expressed grave concerns about the impact Bill 23, the province’s More Homes Built Faster Act, will have on municipal finances, planning and the environment.

ABERFOYLE  – Puslinch council spent quite a bit of time crafting its response to the province’s proposed Bill 23 at its Nov. 9 meeting after hearing from a delegation and receiving correspondence from conservation authorities within the township.

ABOYNE – Habitat for Humanity Guelph Wellington plans on building two new housing complexes – one in Fergus and one in Guelph – and to fund them through its newly launched Community Bonds program.
