WELLINGTON NORTH – The total cost of remuneration, expenses and benefits for members of Wellington North council in 2020 was $112,669. That figure is up only marginally from 2019, when the total was $111,563.

KITCHENER – Justice Catrina D. Braid reserved judgement after hearing concluding arguments on April 1 in a dispute between Harriston residents Rolf and Kerri Schuettel and the Town of Minto and its chief building official Terry Kuipers.

MAPLETON – The township will offer a children’s summer camp program for the first time this year. The plan calls for the township to offer a weekly, themed summer camp for up to 30 children aged four to 12.

ELORA – The Elora Community Centre will receive a total of $5 million in renovations thanks to funding from the federal and provincial governments. Guelph MP Lloyd Longfield announced the funding on April 1 via Zoom.

WELLINGTON COUNTY – Doug Ford has announced Ontario will enter an "emergency brake shutdown" for the next month. The premier announced the province-wide shutdown on April 1 in response to rising COVID-19 cases and the spread of several variants, as well as the strain on the health care system.

DRAYTON – Mapleton residents will get a say in the look of a planned new water tower in Drayton. On March 23 economic development coordinator Aly Cripps explained council decided in 2019 on the design of the township logo to be placed on the tower, which is targeted for completion in 2022.
