FERGUS – The family of Lucas Shortreed, who was killed in a hit-and-run crime 14 years ago, is extending an open invitation to the community to attend a gathering at the Graham Giddy Funeral Home in Fergus on Thanksgiving Day.

ARTHUR – The fire department, streetscaping, derelict buildings, garbage collection, the Arthur public works building, speeding and a proposed outdoor pool in Mount Forest were just some of the topics addressed at an “all-candidates” night held at the Arthur and Area Community Centre on Sept. 27.

Great pumpkins – Her pumpkin wasn’t the heaviest, but at 120 pounds, the pumpkin grown by four-year-old Rylee for the Metz Pumpkinfest was bigger than her.

Blast from the past – Residents of Caressant Care Arthur nursing and retirement homes were treated to a car show on Sept. 24. Jim Walton, who organized the event, said there were around 12 autos present that were manufactured between 1930 and modern-day.

WELLINGTON COUNTY – Electors have a variety of options available for casting ballots on Oct. 24 as local municipalities embrace traditional and modern voting methods.

WELLINGTON COUNTY – Most ballots and voter information will arrive by mail this week for the municipal elections on Oct. 24.

Luncheon – A Wellington North volunteer appreciation and new-comer welcome luncheon was well-attended in Mount Forest on Sept. 23.

LISTOWEL – On Sept. 25 at about 3:40pm Perth County OPP officers "responded to a report of a male driver who approached a 13-year-old female in Listowel and told her to get in his vehicle," police stated in a press release.
