MOUNT FOREST – Mayor Andy Lennox presented the Wellington Heights Secondary School Special Olympics Bocce Team with congratulatory certificates on June 23 in recognition of the team’s gold medal at the 2025 Special Olympics Ontario School Championships.

MOUNT FOREST – Physical education teachers Rob Drost, Bridget Kosempel and Matt McFarlane presented athletic awards to Wolverine students at Wellington Heights Secondary School in Mount Forest at the year-end assembly on June 16.

MOUNT FOREST – Wellington Heights Secondary School in Mount Forest held its annual commencement ceremony on June 20 to celebrate the graduating class of 2025.

MOUNT FOREST –This year’s Mike Elrick Environmental Leadership Award has been awarded to two Mount Forest teachers: Matt Timberlake and Jen Cork from Wellington Heights Secondary School.

MOUNT FOREST – The Wellington Heights Secondary School (WHSS) drama club presented an original jukebox musical titled Any Time, Any Place from June 5 to 7.

GUELPH –  Some parents and students would like the International Baccalaureate (IB) diploma program to be offered in Upper Grand District School Board (UGDSB) schools in Wellington and Dufferin counties. 

MOUNT FOREST – The Wellington Heights Boys Lacrosse Team had another great season of lacrosse, finishing the newly formed District 4/10 league in 3rd place this season with 5 wins and 3 losses for a total of 10 points. 

MOUNT FOREST – The Wellington Heights Secondary School (WHSS) drama club has been working hard on this year’s musical Any Time, Any Place, officials say. 

WELLINGTON COUNTY – In April, the Wellington Advertiser organized a Community Cleanup Contest, inviting county residents and groups to make a difference in the community and show it off with pride.

MOUNT FOREST – Over 150 students were involved in the “Gym Riot” event at Wellington Heights Secondary School (WHSS) in Mount Forest, where four teams competed in physical activities with the goal of winning the championship.

MOUNT FOREST – The Wellington Heights Varsity Boys Soccer team travelled to Sacred Heart Catholic High School in Walkerton on May 2 to compete in a 10-team soccer tournament.

MOUNT FOREST – Students at Wellington Heights Secondary School designed, built and painted these cornhole boards for the Township of Wellington North’s Summer Day Camps and other programming.

MOUNT FOREST – The Wellington Heights Girls Ice Hockey team finished its season on Feb. 27 with an exciting playoff game in Shelburne. 

MOUNT FOREST – On Feb. 26, Pink Shirt Day was recognized at Wellington Heights and Norwell District secondary schools and across Canada and New Zealand.
