MOUNT FOREST – The Wellington Heights Boys Lacrosse Team had another great season of lacrosse, finishing the newly formed District 4/10 league in 3rd place this season with 5 wins and 3 losses for a total of 10 points.
On April 28, the Wellington Heights Wolverines had a close game with Westside Secondary School – Westside winning 9-8. Wellington Heights played Bishop Macdonell Catholic High School on the same day, with the Heights team winning 13-4.
On May 7 Wellington Heights had a hard day, losing 5-13 to Centre Wellington District High School and 5-11 to Westside.
On May 14 the Wolverines won both their games – 13-8 to Centennial Collegiate Vocational Institute and 13-8 to John F Ross Collegiate Vocational Institute.
Heights had another successful day on May 21, winning 5-3 against St. James Catholic High School and 12-7 against Centre Dufferin District High School.
The Heights team qualified for CWOSSA, which was held on May 23 at Bishop Macdonell Catholic High School in Guelph.
They had a great start against St. Mary’s Catholic High School from Owen Sound in their first game with a 3-2 score at the half. However, St. Mary’s took a strong lead in the third quarter and the final score was 11-2.
In the second game, Wellington Heights played Holy Trinity Catholic High School from Simcoe, and the Wolverines won by a score of 11-4.
“Unfortunately, it was not enough for WHSS to advance to the finals, but certainly another outstanding season of lacrosse for the Wolverines,” officials state.
