GUELPH – Ambulance stations were a hot topic of discussion at a special council meeting on Jan. 6 to present the county’s draft 2025 budget and 10-year plan.

CLIFFORD – Local firefighters lined up on Dec. 28 to march into the Clifford arena for a memorial service for long-time local firefighter and paramedic Dean Wick. 

WELLINGTON COUNTY – Salaries of Ontario’s publicly paid employees are published by the provincial government every March, in what’s officially called the Public Sector Salary Disclosure List, but more commonly known as the Sunshine List. 

WELLINGTON COUNTY – Three local paramedics were among 65 from across the province to receive Governor General Emergency Medical Services Exemplary Service Medal bars at a ceremony at Queen’s Park on Dec. 13.

WELLINGTON COUNTY – A new “Fit-to-Sit” program implemented at Groves Memorial Community Hospital in Aboyne on Nov. 24 may help with a lack of available ambulances to respond to urgent and emergent calls in Wellington County and Guelph.

ROCKWOOD – A 33-year-old Mississauga man is dead following a boating incident at the Rockwood Conservation Area on June 4.

MAPLETON – Ambulances are now operating out of a Drayton location around the clock. However, the chief pointed out, a planned move of the ambulance station from the Drayton fire station to the former Wellington County public works garage on John Street has been delayed.

GUELPH – Ambulances are being pulled from the county to respond to calls within Guelph because of lengthier offload delays experienced by Guelph-Wellington Paramedic Services (GWPS)  paramedics at Guelph General Hospital.

ROCKWOOD – A 22-year-old Cambridge man was air lifted to hospital with significant injuries following an incident at the Rockwood Conservation Area on Tuesday afternoon.

WELLINGTON NORTH – Wellington County OPP here have identified the driver involved in a fatal single-vehicle collision as 22-year-old Meagan Janelle Byers of Mount Forest and are continuing to investigate what led to the collision.

WELLINGTON COUNTY – Guelph-Wellington Paramedic Services (GWPS) is trying out a new way of helping palliative patients get the relief they need, when and where they need it—right in the comfort of home.

GUELPH/ERAMOSA – One person is dead and two were transported to hospital following a vehicle collision here on Aug. 28.

CENTRE WELLINGTON – A Kitchener man has been charged in connection with a serious crash here that left one person dead and two others seriously injured.

GUELPH – The County of Wellington has approached the City of Guelph regarding the sale of its property at 65 Delhi Street. The county is proposing the property be used as a transitional housing project for those experiencing homelessness.
