One dead following fatal vehicle collision in Guelph/Eramosa

GUELPH/ERAMOSA – One person is dead and two were transported to hospital following a vehicle collision here on Aug. 28.

At approximately 9pm emergency crews responded to the intersection of Wellington Road 124 and Wellington Road 29 in Guelph/Eramosa, where a southbound motor vehicle collided with an eastbound motor vehicle.

Wellington County OPP officials identified the driver of the eastbound vehicle, who was pronounced dead at the scene, as Shirley Eileen White, 70, of Erin.

Police added a passenger of the eastbound vehicle as well as the driver and passenger of the southbound vehicle were transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Guelph/Eramosa Fire Chief Jim Petrik said it’s not clear which driver was at fault.

“There were two people transported to hospital, one was declared deceased at the scene,” Petrik explained in a phone interview with the Advertiser, adding firefoghters were at the scene for about an hour before it was cleared.
