GUELPH – Crime Stoppers Guelph Wellington was handing out key fob signal protectors by the Starbucks at Edinburgh and Stone roads on April 21 to draw awareness to car theft and how thieves are using technology to steal vehicles.

MINTO – The total cost of paying local politicians in Minto decreased by nearly $12,000 last year. On April 19, treasurer Gordon Duff provided a report on council remuneration and expenses for 2021.

WELLINGTON COUNTY – The installation of 32 wi-fi access points in county-owned social and affordable housing buildings to provide free internet access is complete.

WELLINGTON COUNTY - The county is receiving $8.75 million this year from Ontario's $10-a-day federal-provincial child care agreement which came into effect April 1. Officials say there's still much work ahead before money will reach operators and parents receive fee rebates.

MARDEN – Much like their peers in Puslinch, Guelph/Eramosa councillors are a bit leery of the City of Guelph's search for new water sources in neighbouring townships. The city is looking for alternate sources to accommodate anticipated growth.

ELORA – Centre Wellington is receiving over $450,000 in its latest payment from the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation for hosting Elements Casino Grand River in Elora. The township has received $1,622,262 in total for the 2021-22 fiscal year.

GUELPH/ERAMOSA – Council here is endorsing the call for a moratorium on new gravel mining licenses in Ontario. On April 19 council heard from members of the community, including Reform Gravel Mining Coalition representative Doug Tripp, requesting the moratorium to facilitate a study.

CENTRE WELLINGTON – Police are again warning local residents to be wary of fraudsters after a resident here was scammed out of $50,000. Police say someone "provoked the victim" to purchase and transfer over $50,000 in Bitcoin and gift cards.

MOUNT FOREST – Kay Ayres is such a treasure to Wellington North she was twice presented with the township’s 2022 Senior of the Year Award.

MINTO – Kelly Lenselink thought it might be a joke when she got a call on April 1 and was told that she was the lucky winner of Drayton Entertainment’s March Ultimate 50/50 Draw. 

GUELPH – The Wellington County Children’s Early Years Division has so far received 22,637 test kits (containing five tests each), completing three distribution rounds to 44 child care centres and 24 home child care providers within Wellington County.

WELLINGTON COUNTY – A Drayton resident faces four counts of sexual assault involving multiple victims under the age of 16.
