CENTRE WELLINGTON – The downtown areas in Fergus and Elora are about to grow "up." Council approved two zoning amendments at its June 26 meeting allowing four-storey apartment buildings to be constructed in the two downtown cores.

A new media style guide, written by Alanna King and Sarah Trick, will increase accuracy, care and nuance of stories about disabled individuals and communities. 

MINTO – Four years after the abduction and death of a Kitchener man, the OPP continues to investigate the incident as a homicide and is asking the public for assistance.

MINTO – No objections were presented at a recent public meeting on a proposed site-specific rezoning to allow a kennel on a rural property here.

CENTRE WELLINGTON – A local man has been charged with four counts of sexual assault in connection with incidents that occurred between 2021 and 2023.

MINTO – Some local residents raised concerns about the potential impact of locating a truck and heavy equipment sales business near their residential properties at a public meeting here on June 20.

PUSLINCH – Another train sparked another grass fire along the track that runs through Arkell and that has neighbours up in arms about occurrences they call “frequent” and about the potential for the fires to spread.

MINTO – Council here has approved an agreement to share the services of a bylaw enforcement officer with the Township of Mapleton.

ARTHUR – Funds from the Wellington County Business Retention and Expansion program and Wellington North Cultural Roundtable and Community Fund were presented to recipients at a June 15 Wellington North Cultural Roundtable meeting.

GUELPH – First Nation, Inuit and Metis people showcased parts of their culture and invited attendees to join songs and dances to celebrate National Indigenous Peoples Day at Riverside Park on June 21.
