ELORA – Grand River Raceway marked a significant milestone in the facility’s history on Wednesday with the official opening of its new 5/8 mile racetrack, one of only two 5/8 tracks in Ontario. Key stakeholders, community members and racing enthusiasts were in attendance for the ribbon cutting.

WELLINGTON COUNTY – Local police recently dealt with two incidents involving a gun – one ending with the arrest of a suspected drug dealer and the other with at least one shot fired at a parked vehicle.

ELORA – Council did not approve the 2025 budget at its June 10 meeting, but it did lay the groundwork for staff to get going on it. So don’t be alarmed by the 6.3 per cent tax increase noted at the meeting. It is a starting point only, treasurer Adam McNabb told council.

GUELPH – Transgender people changing names or gender markers can get free support from the Legal Clinic of Guelph and Wellington County. 

CAMBRIDGE – Imagine a highway along the Toronto-Waterloo Region Corridor, except instead of paved roads for cars, trucks and motorcycles, the pathway is made of native gardens supporting bees, butterflies, birds and other pollinators. 

GUELPH – With the help of a sold-out crowd, this year’s Royal Reach fundraising gala brought in more than $90,000 to support mental health services for local children and youth.
