WELLINGTON COUNTY – Recent data from Feed Ontario shows the number of people visiting food banks across the province doubled between 2019 and 2023.

CLIFFORD – What started out as two teenagers falling in love, has turned into a 20-year-long golf tournament that has raised over $1 million for local hospitals in need. 

MINTO – June has come and gone, but that hasn't stopped a group of “concerned citizens” from campaigning against Pride Month celebrations and displays – and even the Minto Pride committee.

MINTO – Crossroads Life Church in Harriston is hosting its annual Canada Day celebration on July 1.

CLIFFORD – The Clifford Rotarian Celebration Square is functioning with a new LED sign under the clock.

CLIFFORD  – Thanks to about 60 volunteers from Clifford and the surrounding community, 1,000 white spruce, Norway spruce and tamarack seedlings were planted in fields by the trail near the wastewater treatment facility in Clifford on May 11.

MINTO – It may be a small town, but Minto was bustling with community activity in 2023, according to a year-end report from the municipality’s economic and community development department. The department hosted or facilitated a total of 95 community events last year.

MAPLETON – Council here has agreed to share a fire services management team with two other north Wellington municipalities.

MINTO – Town council has adopted a strategic plan to guide the municipality through to 2028. Goals laid out in the plan focus on infrastructure maintenance, enhancing local quality of life, fostering an inclusive community and providing responsible government.

MINTO – The Town of Minto is now asking the Ontario government to restore a reversed expansion of the Clifford urban boundary.

CLIFFORD – The Minto-Mapleton Family Health Team (MMFHT) will be able to provide primary health care to hundreds of additional residents after receiving more than a half-million dollars in provincial funding to add two nurse practitioners, a practical nurse and a receptionist to the team’s roster.

MINTO – Town council has agreed to support organizers of a new outdoor life show in Clifford with free use of the local arena for the event this spring.

HANOVER – Lita Ernest, a young member of 1st Hanover Guides, worked hard this season to organize the packing of Operation Christmas Child (OCC) shoe box gifts with her troop.

MINTO – The Town of Minto will ask the Ontario government to leave a recent expansion of the Clifford Urban boundary in place.
