ELORA – In the end it came down to an empty tea box. But before that there was quite a discussion on who council would nominate to run for a director’s seat at the Association of Municipalities of Ontario.

FERGUS – Donations to the Pet Valu Walk for Dog Guides, held at the Centre Wellington Community Sportsplex on June 9, will help the Lions Foundation of Canada provide dog guides at no cost to Canadians with disabilities. 

ELORA – Two years ago, when Briar Gemmell was still in sixth grade, the Elora Public School student worked to organize a fundraising event that brought in $5,500 for the organization’s Food and Friends program. And now, she’s getting set to do it again.

ELORA – The developer of property at 19 Mill St. E. in Elora has lowered the height of the proposed development and that sat well with council.

FERGUS – The second Meadows Music Festival was held May 31 and June 1 on the grounds of the Centre Wellington Community Sportsplex.

CENTRE WELLINGTON – Teens staying at the Portage Ontario residential substance abuse rehabilitation centre in Elora are learning to make their mark thanks to a unique outreach program offered through the Elora Centre for the Arts (ECFTA).

CENTRE WELLINGTON – A renovation company’s vehicle and all the tools inside were destroyed by fire after the truck hit a bridge on 8th Line in Centre Wellington Township on June 5.

FERGUS – Centre Wellington council has passed the Fergus South Secondary Plan. The plan still calls for higher density than the community is used to but changes have been made to lower buildings on Highway 6 from eight storeys to six and allow four-storey buildings low-density areas.

FERGUS – A bronze plaque mounted on Canadian granite rests in Fergus’ Norman Craig Square in memory of Master Corporal Brent W. Lillie. 

FERGUS – The Centre Wellington Food Bank (CWFB) held its annual appreciation reception and general meeting on May 23 at the Highland Rugby Club in Fergus.
