It was all net and all fun as the Centre Wellington Celtics sponsored its second annual three-on-three tournament at Centre Wellington District High School in Fergus on Jan. 17.
Over 60 participants, ranging in age from five to 75, took part in the event.
The tournament raised close to $600.
Proceeds from this year’s event and last year’s competition will go towards putting up good basketball hoops in the Centre Wellington community.
The first hoop has been purchased and will be put up at Bissell Park in Elora in the spring.
Organizers say they believe that with so many distractions for today’s youth, there is a real need to have places for kids to go and play some “pick-up” ball.
Having good hoops in local parks throughout the Centre Wellington community is their dream.
