GARVIN, Wayne Kenneth

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Wayne Kenneth Garvin on October 26, 2026 at Wellington Hospice in Guelph, at the age of 77. His battle of Hodgkin’s Lymphoma Cancer over the last two years is finally over and peace has come. Wayne will be dearly missed by his loving wife Donna of forty years, his sons, David (Mandy), Adam (Fran), and Matthew (Thea) and his grandsons Peyton, Jesse, Noah and Aidan. Family was everything to Wayne and he was always happier when they were close. Wayne leaves behind his mother, Betty Garvin and his mother-in-law Ivy Marshall and in-laws Randy Marshall, and Beverly and Kevin Bessey. He had a special place in his heart for nieces Shelley, Cheryl, Krista and their families. Wayne was predeceased by his father Edward (1969) and his father in-law Fred Marshall (2021). Wayne loved life. He had a generous heart and was full of quick wit. He loved his home town of Elora and made friends wherever he traveled. His smile was contagious and one that lit up the room. Some might say he was a legend and as a son, husband, father, grandfather, uncle, great uncle, cousin, friend and neighbor, he will be deeply missed by many. Wayne retired from Blount Canada in Guelph in 2008, where he worked in the Tool Room for 35 years. Wayne loved to golf, ride his e-bike and chat to anyone that would listen. He loved to tell stories about being young and helping his Grandad at Drimmie’s Feed Mill.  In the early years, Wayne could be found at the arena coaching minor lacrosse teams. Later, he served on the Executive of the Elora Rocks and then moved on to coach the Elora Rockers Oldtimers Hockey Team. When he wasn’t coaching, he would be watching his boys and later his grandsons at their sport of choice. He rarely missed a game. Wayne’s favourite trips were on the southern beaches, Ireland, Portugal, BC and Newfoundland. A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, November 23, 2026 from 6-9pm in the main hall of the Elora Legion. In lieu of flowers, donations in Wayne’s memory may be made to the future of Aboyne Rural Hospice. Cremation has taken place. A private family interment will be held at the Elora Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to the Graham A. Giddy Funeral Home.
