CWDHS girls hockey team off to OFSAA competition after victory at CWOSSA

CAMBRIDGE – Centre Wellington District High School girls hockey team went 4-0 at the CWOSSA tournament held March 5 to 6, bringing home its first CWOSSA title as a AAA school.

The team is off to the provincial OFSAA championships from March 19 to 22.

In the CWOSSA final CWDHS eliminated St. Mary’s High School from Kitchener 3-1. Olivia MacMillan had a hat trick, with assists going to Sydney Healey, Emily Palmer and Mackenzie Goodfellow. 

These wins have the girls remaining undefeated through season, playoff, and now CWOSSA play, scoring 85 goals and only letting in four goals against.

Faith Mitchell back- stopped the team to two shutouts in the tournament.

CWDHS opened CWOSSA  play with a 1-0 win over Elmira District Secondary School. Syd Healey scored, assisted by Carson Lean and Kara denHoed. 

In the second game CWDHS beat Owen Sound 3-0, with goals by Cecile Proctor, Bailey Sabila and Mackenzie Goodfellow, and  assists by Abbey Zwep, Maddy Bender and Sydney Healey.

In the semi-final they beat Brantford CI 3-1, with goals by Syd Healey (2) and Cecile Proctor, with assists to Lynsey Goodwin.
