Minto’s diversity, equity, inclusion committee hosts clothing swap Nov. 7
HARRISTON – The Town of Minto’s diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) committee is inviting the community to a clothing swap on Nov. 7 from 10am to 1pm at the Palmerston Community Centre.
This free, family-friendly event is a chance for residents to clean out their closets, refresh their wardrobes and reduce waste – at no cost and with no pressure.
Participants are encouraged to bring clean, gently used cold-weather clothing such as jackets, snow gear, boots and everyday wear.
However, there’s no requirement to donate to participate – everyone is welcome to take what they need.
“Events like this are about more than clothing – they’re about community,” said DEI committee member Alicia Becker.
“We want to support one another, reduce waste and ensure everyone has what they need to head into the season warm and confident.”
Donations from the community will be accepted in advance from Nov. 2 to 7 at the Service Ontario (36 Elora St. S., Harriston), the Youth Wellness Hub (390 Main St. E., Palmerston) and the Palmerston Community Centre (520 Cavan St.) between 4 and 6pm on Nov. 6 or between 8 and 10am on Nov. 7.
The DEI committee encourages all residents to join in this sustainable, community-driven initiative to give clothing a second life and support neighbours in need.
For those looking to get more involved, volunteers are needed on the evening before and the day of the event to sort donations, help participants and to set up and clean up.
