Local excellence celebrated at Arthur chamber awards night
ARTHUR – The Arthur Chamber of Commerce celebrated local excellence on Oct. 22, hosting its annual dinner and awards at The Tipsy Fox Pub and Grill.
A crowd of 69 community members and local business leaders enjoyed a networking cocktail hour, followed by a three-course meal, before officially honouring this year’s award recipients.
The evening featured a keynote address from Stephanie Craig, owner of Tullamore Lavender Co., followed by the formal presentation of five business and community awards.
Sponsored by Wellington County, the Small Business of the Year award went to Sterre Cafe and Gifts.
Located at 222 George Street, the cozy coffee shop has developed a reputation for its specialty coffees, local ciders and home baking.

According to the chamber, “Sterre brings top-tier hospitality and charm to the community.”

The Excellence in Agriculture award was sponsored by Walker Industries and presented to McLean Crest Farms and Orchard.
The agri-business was described as “a cherished family orchard whose educational events, fresh local produce and support for neighbouring businesses strengthen Arthur’s agricultural roots.”
Tabitha Johnstone was named Citizen of the Year.
Sponsored by the Township of Wellington North, Johnstone received the award for her community-minded efforts, from “coordinating the Lion’s Cub Club to managing the skating club finances”. Johnstone was recognized as a tireless community leader who is involved in local sports, events, and youth programs.

Sponsored by the Tipsy Fox, Mikayla Humphrey was pronounced Youth of the Year.
As the 2025-26 Arthur Fall Fair Ambassador who also participates in countless volunteer projects, Humphrey was described as someone who “leads by example with hard work, community pride and family devotion.”
Attendees topped off the celebration by raising a champagne toast to local trailblazers and innovators who help to shape the community.
