Wightman expands to Arthur

The village of Arthur now has a “new” option for high-speed internet and phone service. Wightman Telecom, one of Canada’s largest and oldest independent telecommunications companies, has expanded its service area to include Canada’s most patriotic village.

The launch of Wightman’s internet, phone, and mobility services in Arthur means more choice for local residents and businesses, and brings along with it the differentiating factor of Wightman’s award-winning, local customer service. Family-owned and now in its fourth generation, Wightman has been in the customer service business since local farmer Robert Wightman founded the company in 1908. In an area desperate for service, Wightman provided a solution to keep all his neighbours connected. Fast forward to present day, and the fourth generation Wightman family is still putting people first.

With their services already available in Mount Forest and Fergus, expanding into Arthur was a logical next step. “We’ve provided service to several communities around Arthur for years, so it makes sense that we would expand our internet and phone service into Arthur,” says Wightman Vice President of Customer Care and Acquisition (and lifetime Arthur resident) Jack Walsh. “Wightman is a growing company, and Arthur is a growing community. We’re proud to provide our services here, and to give customers an exceptional service experience.”

Many of Wightman’s staff call Wellington County home, as Wightman’s head office is located in Clifford, and one of their sales offices is in Fergus. Wightman’s third sales office, in Hanover, is also home to the company’s 24/7/365 technical support team. “The fact that you can call and you’re speaking with someone from the area is a huge advantage, and our customers really appreciate that,” says Walsh. “When your service provider is truly part of the local community, that makes a difference.”

Wightman provides free installation of their internet and phone service. Wightman’s internet service is unlimited, as the company does not bill based on usage. When customers bundle Wightman’s internet and phone service, they receive a discounted long distance rate as well as ten free calling features. Wightman also offers a mobility service. Residents and businesses are encouraged to visit one of Wightman’s retail locations or to call 1-888-477-2177. More information is also available on the company’s website, www.wightman.ca.
