Wellington North Showcase set for March 26, 27

Wellington North is hosting the 9th annual Wellington North Showcase on March 27 and 28 at the Arthur and Area Community Centre.

Hosted by the Economic Development Office in partnership with the Saugeen Economic Development Corporation, TD Canada Trust, Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, as well as, both the Arthur and Mount Forest Chambers of Commerce, Wellington North Showcase creates this platform for business services, retailers and organizations to make the right connections and to showcase their products and services.

Wellington North Showcase features a business after five networking event open to everyone that will take place on March 26 from 4:30 to 7pm.

Local businesses and community leaders are encouraged to attend this valuable networking opportunity. The main feature of showcase is the tradeshow that opens the doors to the public on March 27 from 1:30 to 7:30pm and features a showcase of displays and products from local businesses and organizations.

This event is free for the public to attend. Non-perishable donations will be accepted at the door in support of the Arthur Food Bank.

For the second year in a row, Wellington North Mayor Andy Lennox and HOPE (Healthy Opportunities Promoting Empowerment; De-stigmatizing Mental Health) invite the public to a mayor’s lunch and talk on March 27.

This year’s guest speaker is Rebecca Sherbino who will be speaking about empowerment and change through employment and how social enterprise is changing the world – one bowl of soup at a time.

The Raw Carrot is a social franchise that partners with churches and nonprofits across Ontario to create meaningful employment for individuals on the Ontario Disability Support Program.

Sherbino will talk about the cost of poverty and unemployment in Ontario and the joy of providing a hand-up to individuals who have been marginalized by disability and mental health challenges.

The lunch and learn takes place from 11:30am to 1pm at the upper hall of the Arthur community centre.

It is open to anyone with an interest in creating a mentally healthy workplace and lunch will be provided.

Also during showcase at open houses to learn more about the township’s community growth plan and recreation master plan.

Join members of staff, representatives from both steering committees as well as the consultants at these open houses, which are being hosted by Wellington North Economic Development.

Obtain information on the 2041 vision for growth, the growth management goals for our community and the key findings and next steps with the recreation master plan.
