Two workers sent to hospital after electrical fire

PUSLINCH – Two workers were sent to the hospital on Monday following a fire at a local glass recycling plant.

Puslinch Fire Chief Luis Gomes said electrical components and a conveyor belt caught fire on Jan. 7 at Nexcycle Industries on McLean Road West, north of Highway 401.

Gomes reported two workers at the business were sent to hospital for smoke inhalation. One of the workers is also a Puslinch firefighter.

The fire chief said the workers were released after an assessment at Guelph General Hospital and both are doing well.

Noting the damage estimate is unknown, Gomes described the incident as a “quick knock down by Puslinch Fire.”
