Teen arrested after threat to ‘shoot up’ Guelph school
GUELPH – A local teenaged boy was arrested last Tuesday after police became aware of threats against a local school.
At about 7:45pm on April 21, Guelph Police learned a student had sent messages to friends that he wanted to buy a gun and “shoot up the school.”
Guelph Police spokesperson Scott Tracey refused to provide the name of the school.
“Police were able to identify the subject with assistance from school board officials,” police stated in a press release. “Just before 10pm a 15-year-old Guelph boy was arrested for uttering threats.”
He is to appear in Guelph court in June.
“There is no evidence the boy had a weapon or that any threat to the school existed,” police stated.
