Serious multi-vehicle crash closes Highway 6, County Road 22 intersection
Crash-prone intersection currently under construction to install roundabout
CENTRE WELLINGTON – A serious multi-vehicle crash at Highway 6 and Wellington Road 22 closed the collision-prone intersection on Thursday afternoon.
Emergency crews were called to the scene at about 12:15pm on Sept. 10.
Wellington County OPP officials stated in a press release the crash resulted in "multiple injuries," but they did not specify how many vehicles were involved or the number of people injured.
"All roads within the vicinity of the intersection of Highway 6 and Wellington Road 22 are closed for the next several hours and the public is asked to use alternate routes," police stated in the release issued at about 1:30pm.
Specifically, Wellington Road 22 / 8th line is closed from Campbell Road to Wellington Road 7 and Highway 6 is closed from Wellington Road 51 to 6th line within Ennotville.
Over the past decade, there have been 84 collisions at the crash-prone Highway 6 intersection at the border of Centre Wellington and Guelph/Eramosa.
The intersection is currently under construction to turn it into a roundabout.
