‘Slowly murdering her’
Dear Editor:
RE: ‘Do I not have value?’ Centre Wellington woman pleads for access to drug to treat rare disease, Aug. 13.
As far as I am concerned whomever is not funding this most important drug for Lisa McColeman is really slowly murdering her.
People always brag about our wonderful, basically free drug program here in Canada, so we should carry on that tradition and whichever government is responsible, or both provincial and federal, should take a look at this article and do something about this horrible situation. It’s an embarrassment to say the least.

‘Our weak link’

Doug Ford beside a billboard advising us that Lake Ontario is Lake Ontario, seems to be getting a lot of attention for a sign that tells anyone who will see it something they already know.
It’s just another example of Doug Ford pretending to be fighting Donald Trump to divert attention from Ontario’s ballooning debt, failing housing policies, and troubled health care and education systems to name a few of his failings.
Doug embarrassed himself and Ontario by saying Trump could “kiss my ass,” ensuring that Trump would make some absurd response. Fortunately, this time, Trump just pretended to rename Lake Ontario rather than doing something destructive. This was just a bit of foolishness.
Doug Ford’s other ill-advised contribution to the trade dispute, suggesting cutting off oil to the U.S., is ridiculous. Trump is attacking us by cutting off some of our exports to the U.S. Doug wants us to cut off our most profitable export and take the blame for the impact.
The gusher of U.S. cash that oil exports bring to the Canadian economy supports our dollar, limits our inflation and helps us weather Trump’s tariffs. Stopping oil exports to the U.S. would be inconvenient for the U.S. (it is an oil exporting country), but a disaster for Canada.
Drawing Trump’s wandering attention to this vulnerability is irresponsible and truly dangerous. Premier Ford exploiting Trump’s tariffs for his political gain is our weak link.
