GLEN, Valentine “Val”
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Valentine “Val” Glen, a much-loved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. Val was predeceased by his beloved wife, Mary Glen (née Black); his parents, James and Maggie Glen; and his brother, James Glen. He will be deeply missed by his daughter and son-in-law, Catherine and Trevor Wilson, and his cherished granddaughters, Ainslie and Logan. He is also lovingly remembered by his children, James Glen (Pam) and Margaret Gervais, and his grandchildren, Alec Gervais, Rachelle Gervais, Albert, Ashley, Beau, Beverley, Chrystal, Noleen, Jared, Lisa, and Pamela. He also leaves behind his great-grandchildren, Hunter, Riley, Gemma, Octavia, Gabby, and Benjamin. Born in Scotland, Val remained immensely proud of his Scottish roots throughout his life. He carried that pride with him wherever he went and cherished the connection to the country he called home. Val was a proud member of the Royal Canadian Legion, where he dedicated many years to serving veterans and his community. He held a number of positions during his time with the Legion, including 1st Vice President, 2nd Vice President, P.O.P.P.Y., Honorary Secretary, and Public Relations. His Legion family was an important part of his life, and he was proud of the time, friendship, and service he shared with so many. Val will be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor, his quick wit, and, perhaps most of all, his infectious smile and laughter. He loved to laugh, loved to make others laugh, and had a special way of bringing warmth and humor wherever he went. His laughter could brighten a room, and his presence made life a little lighter for those around him. Val shared a very deep and special love with his beloved wife, Mary, and there is comfort in knowing that they are together once again, enjoying a nice glass of wine and watching over all of us. There will forever be an empty space where his laughter and presence once were. Yet, alongside the sadness, there will always be gratitude for the love he gave, the laughter he shared, and the many wonderful memories he created. His love, his humor, his smile, and the memories he gave us will be carried forward always. Forever loved. Forever missed. Forever in our hearts. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 22, 2026 from 11:00am to 12:45pm at Graham A. Giddy Funeral Home in Fergus (280 St. David St. South). A veteran legion service for Val and a memorial service will immediately follow beginning at 1pm. Afterwards, Val and Mary’s cremated remains will be interred at Belsyde Cemetery, with a reception to follow upstairs in the Wellington Room. Memorial donations may be made to the Kidney Foundation or the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Arrangements are entrusted to the Graham A. Giddy Funeral Home.
