MAPLETON – Council here has agreed to share a fire services management team with two other north Wellington municipalities.

GUELPH – Former Mount Forest resident Amber Rundstadtler was sentenced to time already served behind bars for threats, not complying with probation orders, and assaults, including the stabbing of a local woman.

GUELPH – Following a four-day trial in Guelph Superior Court, Rodney Grubb has been found guilty on one arson charge and two weapons-related charges. He was acquitted on another count of arson.

MOUNT FOREST - Two dollars from each large-sized item sold at Papa V's Mount Forest is being donated to St. Mary Catholic School to help purchase classroom and recess supplies lost in a devastating fire on Jan. 25.

MOUNT FOREST – The Wellington Catholic District School Board has announced plans for temporary accommodations for students and staff of St. Mary Catholic School, which has been shut down since a Jan. 25 fire which caused an estimated $4 million in damage.

MOUNT FOREST – On the morning of Jan. 25, community members gathered inside the new Foodland in the north end of Mount Forest for the store's grand opening.

MOUNT FOREST – A fire on the morning of Jan. 25 has closed St. Mary Catholic School in Mount Forest. Nobody was injured in the fire that is estimated to have caused over $4 million in damage. Fire officials say the fire is not considered suspicious.

GUELPH – A ruling in the four-day December trial of Mount Forest resident Rodney Grubb is expected in February. Grubb is accused of starting a fire in the basement unit of his home in September of 2021.

GUELPH – Former Mount Forest resident Chester Lewis, 21, was handed jail sentences on five counts of arson, two vehicle thefts, and one count of assault with a weapon. Eight additional charges were dropped.

PALMERSTON – One hundred pouches of soup from The Raw Carrot Soup Enterprise in Mount Forest were recently placed in Palmerston Food Bank Christmas Hampers.

HANOVER – Lita Ernest, a young member of 1st Hanover Guides, worked hard this season to organize the packing of Operation Christmas Child (OCC) shoe box gifts with her troop.

DRAYTON – There were 60 north Wellington seniors who conquered a steep learning cuve and ovecame tech hurdles to master digital devices as part of a seniors training and support program that ran for its second year in 2023.

KENILWORTH – Wellington North council approved the 2024 budget at a Dec. 11 meeting.

GUELPH – A Mount Forest man charged with driving offences that resulted in the February death of Sharmila Jeyaruban has been handed a fine and a two-year driving prohibition following a joint Crown-defence sentencing recommendation.
