Save a life, wrap gifts, eat scones at clinic

The Elora blood donor clinic will look a little different this December.

Considering the increased need for blood in the holiday season, Canadian Blood Services and the Secret Garden Tea House are partnering to throw a lifesaving party – including free scones and free gift wrapping.

“We’ve had a family member fighting leukemia and she has had numerous transfusions and we are so grateful to those who donate,” said Sharon Dupuis, owner of the Secret Garden Tea House. “This month my Mom ended up in hospital and received a transfusion as well.

“We had two immediate family members receive blood on the same day in two different provinces. It made me keenly aware of the need and grateful for those that donate.  Our team and family will all be at the clinic.  We hope to see a full house there enjoying scones after giving blood.”

Canadian Blood Services and the Secret Garden are encouraging Elora residents to incorporate giving blood into their holiday celebrations and help save lives.

Organizers are asking residents to give blood on Dec. 7 to help fill more than 80 open appointments.

The Elora clinic is at the Elora Community Centre on Dec. 7 from 3 to 7pm.
