Police seek tips after girls approached by man in a van

Police are seeking more information after a group of girls here was approached by a man offering them a ride in a van.

On Nov. 10 at about 1:35pm three girls were walking on Daniel Street near Erin Public School when a van stopped beside them, police say.

The driver, a man police estimate to be in his mid-40s to late 50s, asked the girls if he could give them a ride back to their school.

"The girls all said no and no attempt was made to physically take the girls," police said in a press release. "The vehicle was last seen headed north on Daniel Street … past the Erin Public School."

Police say the vehicle is a "black, four-door smaller van" and the man "had gray hair and a square face, possibly with a small beard, with no accent and no distinguishing marks."

Anyone with information regarding the incident can contact the Wellington County OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS) or submit a tip on-line at www.csgw.tips.
