Market hosting Peaches and Cream fundraiser for Sunrise

The vendors at the Aberfoyle Farmers’ Market are teaming up with volunteers from Sunrise Therapeutic Riding Centre to celebrate peach season in Ontario.

On  Aug. 25 visitors to the market can enjoy a bowl of ice cream with fresh Ontario peaches as a thank you  for every $10 donation to Sunrise.

The peaches for this event are being donated by Jim and Mary Warner of Warner Orchards, regular vendors at the Aberfoyle Farmers’ Market since it opened in 2011.

The cost of the ice cream will be covered by the other market vendors.

For this special day, market volunteers will be pealing and slicing peaches along side volunteers from Sunrise, who will be scooping ice cream.

Since the Aberfoyle Farmers’ Market began, its vendors have supported Sunrise by donating products for various fundraisers.

Officials say the market’s goal with this fundraiser is to raise much needed funds and create more awareness of the important services that Sunrise provides.

The Aberfoyle Farmers’ Market, located in the Optimist Recreation Centre at 23 Brock Road South, is open 8am to 1pm every Saturday until the end of October.
