Speeds to be reduced on several Centre Wellington roads

CENTRE WELLINGTON – Get your foot off the gas. Speed limits are about to be reduced on several roads in Centre Wellington after council approved a new posted speed limit bylaw on Nov. 27.

Cox family grateful for community support after experimental cancer treatment

ERIN – Kevin Cox of Erin has jumped right back into normal life after apparently – hopefully – battling cancer for the second and final time.

Five people taken to hospital after Erin crash

ERIN – Five people were sent to hospital, one with serious injuries, after a two-vehicle crash here on Sunday. Emergency crews responded to the collision, on Wellington Road 22 east of Hillsburgh, at about 5:45pm on Nov. 26.

GUELPH – “This year, we’ve already received 1,464 family referrals from local social agencies,” said program director Megan Harron, and as of Nov. 27 there are 120 families who have not yet been matched with support.

GUELPH – You call 411 for directory assistance, 911 for emergencies, and now you can call 988 for urgent mental health support.

MISSISSAUGA – The province’s Special Investigations Unit has found no grounds to criminally charge any OPP officers in connection to a man’s injuries after a pursuit that ended in a Centre Wellington ditch in March.

Mapleton council rejects dedicated tax levy for fire department

MAPLETON – Council here has rejected a proposal to implement a two per cent dedicated tax levy to cover the financial needs of the township’s fire department.

Mapleton alters approach to staff cost-of-living increases

MAPLETON – Annual cost of living increases for township staff here will be based on average Consumer Price Index figures for the previous 12 months ending in August of each year, but will be capped at four per cent in any given year.
