Legacy of affordable camps, youth basketball will continue

ERIN – Main Place Optimists (MPO) has carried on the legacy of Patrick Suessmuth since the time of his passing in 2014.

A volunteer board has continued to provide school holiday camps, summer camps and youth basketball programs in Suessmuth’s tradition.

“We are now entering a new and very exciting phase,” said MPO President Mary Shields.

“Pat’s estate was recently settled and the portion that was bequeathed to MPO will be gifted to East Wellington Community Services to carry on Pat’s legacy and to provide dynamic youth services for the Town of Erin, including our popular Wednesday night Junior NBA basketball program, Main Place Summer Camp 2019 and much more.

“Many thanks to Erin Optimists, Optimists International and the MPO volunteer board who worked diligently during the past five years to keep Pat’s programs vibrant and alive.”

Supporters include Shields, Don Staddon, Sue Montgomery, Ted Simmonds, Tanja Parsley, Wendy Parr, Jill McPherson, Kevin McPherson and Liz Armstrong.
