Erin Tim Hortons hit during Aug. 29 robbery spree

An incident at the Tim Hortons restaurant in Erin last Wednesday was part of a robbery spree that ended with the arrest of five youths.

Arrests were made the morning of Sept. 1 after a collision with a police vehicle at the intersection of Williams Parkway and Centre Street North in Brampton. Police said there were no injuries and the Special Investigations Unit (SIU) will not invoke its mandate.

Fifteen businesses in Halton, Peel, Toronto and Erin were targeted late on Aug. 29 and early on Aug. 30, including gas stations, fast food restaurants and convenience stores. Toronto Police issued a public safety advisory on Aug. 30.

There were no injuries at the Tim Hortons in Erin, according to a staff member. Wellington OPP officers were called to the scene at about 11pm, but police could not confirm if any money was taken or any other details about the incident.

In a Facebook post, one person in the area said police were asking if anyone had seen four men wearing hoodies.

Police believe an incident on Charleston Sideroad in Caledon at about the same time is part of the string of incidents. Caledon OPP say two masked men approached an attendant at the Esso gas station demanding money, but he was able to lock the door and they fled.

The investigation has been taken over by Peel Regional Police. The identity of the suspects charged will not be released under the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
