‘Destination Animation’ seeks funding applications to create new experiences in Centre Wellington

CENTRE WELLINGTON – Local entrepreneurs with great ideas are being sought out for this year’s Elora and Fergus Destination Animation Strategic Co-Investment Project funding.

The project, which began in 2017, enabled the creation of new experiences such as Twilight at Templin, Bissell Quick Paint Competition and Rappelling and Riverfeast to name a few.

Last year saw the enhancement of existing events such as Monster Rappel as well as the creation and marketing of new events such as the Medieval Faire and the Follow the Flock Campaign.

Elora and Fergus Tourism, Centre Wellington Township, and the Regional Tourism Organization 4 (RTO4) are continuing the program this year.

The project supports projects on a matched basis with an estimated $10,000 available. Proposals and individual applications may be for any amount between $500 and $5,000.

A selection committee reviews awards funding based on the following criteria:

– highlighting Elora and Fergus destinations;

– level of social media sharing and feasibility;

– potential to attract out-of-town visitors, and overall economic benefit to Elora and Fergus;

– collaboration with other tourism stakeholders.

Projects must be new or enhanced experiences  and funds cannot be used for  capital or regular operational expenses.

The application deadline is April 15.
