Reflections: Walking, standing, sitting – all is good
By Laurie Langdon
“Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers ...” (Psalm 1:1)
I can say with confidence that God’s goodness has come and will continue to come to my township, it is spreading throughout my county, it is being dispersed throughout my country, and it is transforming my world!
A good walk
I can say with confidence that as I walk about in intercession, the King returns to my hometown. His love flows through every field, his grace runs through every street, his favor spreads throughout every neighborhood, his sweet joy enters every church service and Christian function, and his favour is upon every outreach and mission project.
A good stance
I can say with confidence that as I stand in worship of the Master of the Universe, he enters every council chamber, every fire hall, every bank, every store, every post office, every office, every funeral parlor, every law office, every factory, and every place of business that I enter. He is at every baseball game, every hockey game, every picnic, every fair, every parade, and every community function that I attend.
A good seat
I can say with confidence that as I sit in the company of Jesus, God himself is in my home, my life, and my secret places. Oh, he is not there to condemn, but to bring life, fullness, and wholeness. And everything that he brings is good, because he is good – he is all good!
And I love the verses that follow. “… but whose delight is in the law of the Lord, and who meditates on his law day and night. That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither—whatever they do prospers.” (Psalm 1:2,3)
So, I can say with confidence that God’s kingdom is in my world and, as I delight in the decrees and the rule of the Lord, and as I reflect on and implement the commands and strategies of his kingdom, I am seeing and will continue to see his glorious order re-established in my world and, as it is being restored, everything I do will prosper.
As I walk with the Lord, as I stand in his ways, and as I sit in his counsel – all is good!
