Meadows Music Festival draws thousands to Fergus
Country, rock music rang out across sportsplex grounds May 29, 30

Many in the audience on May 29 said they were there for Cameron Whitcomb, a singer-songwriter from B.C. who competed on American Idol and recently celebrated three years of sobriety. Whitcomb kicked off his set with a backflip and his high energy level continued throughout the set, with fans singing along with his heartfelt lyrics. Photos by Robin George

TOP RIGHT: Elora local Chris Clark performed on the Back 40 Stage Friday night. According to his website, Clark's love for country music blossomed in the barn singing along to an old AM radio and cruising the back roads to country dances. TOP LEFT/CENTRE: Indie rock band Yukon Blonde, based in Vancouver, rocked the main stage on Saturday afternoon. TOP RIGHT: Joel Plaskett Emergency played their new single Fill in the Blanks live for the first time on Saturday evening. Plaskett praised organizers for their bravery in hosting an outdoor festival in May, though he also noted the weather was nearly perfect for it. ABOVE LEFT/RIGHT: The crowd was enthusiastic and on its feet for the final set of the weekend, as headliner Arkells, led by frontman Max Kerman, closed out the festival with a popular combination of their most famous anthems and their newest hits.
