Competitions keep Blue Bonnet Lassies on their toes
FERGUS – On the weekend of April 11 and 12, dancers from Blue Bonnet Lassies School of Highland Dance travelled down to Niagara Falls to compete at the Niagara Open Championships in Memory of Paulina McMaster and SDTA Ontario Spring Festival.
In the Saturday competition in the Novice 10 and 11-year category, Harlyn Heathers placed fifth in Fling. In the Intermediate 11 years and under category, Scarlett Jackson placed third in Strathspey and Half Tulloch.
In the Intermediate 12 and 13 years category, Cayley Simpson placed third in Fling, fourth in Sword, Seann Truibhas, and Strathspey and Half Tulloch, and Maribelle McBroom placed fifth in Sword, and sixth in Fling, Seann Truibhas, and Strathspey and Half Tulloch.
In the Intermediate 14 years and over category, Gabby Jackson placed fifth in Sword and fourth in Strathspey and Half Tulloch.

The next day, at the Sunday competition, in the Novice 10 and 11 years category, Harlyn Heathers placed fourth in Lilt and Flora.
Finally, In the Novice 12 years and over category, Ziva Sobol placed fourth in Lilt.
On April 26 dancers travelled to London to compete at the Western Ontario Highland Dancers Association London District Competition.
In the Beginner 10 years and over category, Xara Sobol placed fourth in Sword, fifth in Lilt and Flora, and sixth in Seann Turibhas, and sixth in Trophy Fling; and Isley Sobol placed second in Sword, Flora, and Trophy Fling, and fourth in Lilt.
In the Novice 9 and under 11 years category, Harlyn Heathers placed fifth in Lilt, and sixth in Sword and Flora.
On May 2 dancers competed at the Nicola McMaster Memorial Competition in Ancaster.
In the Novice 11 years and over category, Ziva Sobol placed fourth in Fling and fifth in Seann Truibhas.
In the Intermediate 12 years and under category, Scarlett Jackson placed sixth in Seann Truibhas.
In the Intermediate 13 years and over category, Gabby Jackson placed fourth in Fling, fifth in Sword and Seann Truibhas and sixth in Laddie; Maribelle McBroom placed sixth in Sword; Brooke Bailey placed fourth in Laddie, sixth in Fling and Seann Truibhas; and Cayley Simpson placed third in Fling, Seann Truibhas, and Laddie, and fourth in Sword.
On May 10 Xara and Ziva Sobol competed at the Eastern Canada Highland Dancers Alliance Pre-Premier Competition in North York.
In the Novice 12 years and over, Ziva placed second in Fling, third in Seann Truibhas, fourth in Sword, and fifth in Lilt.
On May 16, Pearl Dodds ventured down to Townsend, Tennessee, to compete at the Smoky Mountain Scottish Festival and Games.

In the Beginner category, she placed fourth in Seann Truihbhas, fifth in Sword, Fling, and Lilt.
On May 23 Xara and Ziva Sobol competed at the Durham Region Highland Dance Association Spring Fling Competition in Whitby.
In the Beginner 10 years and over category, Xara placed fourth in Half Hullachan, fifth in Seann Truibhas, and sixth in Fling and Sword.
In the Novice 11 years and over category, Ziva placed third in Fling, fifth in Sword, and sixth in Seann Truibhas and Half Hullachan.
On May 30, dancers competed at the Anna Cann Memorial Competition in Guelph.
In the Primary Category, Finleigh MacLeod placed fifth in Pas de Bas and Highcuts and sixth in Fling.
In the Beginner 8 & over category, Xara Sobol placed fourth in Fling, sixth in Sword, and Seann Truibhas.
In the Intermediate 12 years and over category Cayley Simpson placed second in Seann Truibhas, third in Flora, and sixth in Lilt.
In the neighbouring province, Maribelle McBroom was competing at the Montreal Highland Dancing Association open competition in Pointe-Claire, Quebec.
In the Intermediate 12 years and over category she placed fourth in Lilt, fifth in Fling, Laddie, and Flora.
This finishes off the indoor competition season and begins the Summer highland games season with the Georgetown Highland Games. Dancers will also be heading to Moncton, New Brunswick, this summer to compete at the Scotdance Canada Canadian Championship Series.
